Here’s a recap of our beach meals! See all the fun pics in this post.

Beach Breakfasts
One of my favorite things about the beach (and this house especially) is enjoying coffee and breakfast out on the porch when it’s not too hot.

I was about 30% through Yesteryear when I arrived and LOVED reading it!!!! The author is actually from Charlottesville! It was one of those books that I was sad when it was over. I have a few bones to pick with the plot, but overall I can see why it’s been so popular.

I ate a lot of yogurt bowls for breakfast – plain Greek yogurt or Siggi’s Vanilla – with whatever fruit and crunch we had in the house!

One morning my mom made pancakes from scratch! They were a hit with all ages.

Beach Lunches
We went out to lunch twice – once we ate at the Club pool and had takeout bowls, and once we had a nice sit-down lunch at the Shoals Club restaurant.

Delicious salad!

I didn’t get as many lunch pics at the house, but here’s a lovely bowl of leftover BBQ and a beer!

Beach lunch of champions – PB&J!

Smoothie lunch with Mazey!

Happy Hours
Coffee in the morning –> wine in the evening!

Drinks at the pool – frozen daiquiris for the kids and Amalfi Punch for the adults.

Mezcal Negroni at the Shoals (they were out of big cube ice!)

I had a Mezcal Negroni at the BHI Club too, but this one had a little extra bitterness because we found out after they charged us $40 for it (*wide eye emoji*)!!!! I guess it was good Mezcal, but I wish they had told me first. Most expensive drink I’ve ever had in my life!

Beach Dinners
Low Country Boil
Of course we had to make the low country boil! Dad took charge this year using my Low Country Boil recipe and did a great job!

The kids having their version of it, which included mac and cheese : )

Cheesy Baked Chicken
I offered to make a cheesy baked chicken recipe inspired by Blue Apron.

Served with roasted broccoli and cauliflower and buttery baguette.

Maritime Market Family Meals
We got two different family meals from the Maritime Market: BBQ with baked beans and mac and cheese and the shrimp and grits with green beans.

Member Monday
My dad loves to take us to Member Monday at the Shoals where members get 50% off! We usually get one of everything on the appetizers / small plates menu and share around. They have live music, and the sunset is perfect.

Dinner at Aqua
The fancier restaurant at the Shoals is Aqua, and we did a Parents’ Night Out dinner there while my parents took the children to the outdoor section on Kids Eat Free Thursdays! They came to say hi before they left <3

We had delicious pimento cheese bruschetta and grilled radicchio appetizers.

And I had a lovely cornmeal flounder with collard greens, hoppin’ John, and a deviled egg topping.

Horizons
On our final night, we headed to Horizons to eat on the terrace. We ran into Jack Sparrow and some of his pirate friends going in! The first weekend of August is Pirate Weekend on BHI, and we must try to be there for it next year. Birch LOVED meeting them!

We shared crab dip and salmon bites appetizers, and I had really good crab cakes served over grits for dinner!

It actually wasn’t a dessert heavy trip for me, but I did enjoy some iced cream with a view 🙂

We had a great visit to this special place.

Waving goodbye
