A cup of hot chocolate with a marshmallow decorated as a reindeer using pretzels, candy eyes, and a red candy nose, next to a plaid cloth and mini Christmas trees.

We have all taken the holiday season to the next level now that we have kiddos. Not only are we putting marshmallows in our hot chocolate, we are also making little frozen whipped cream snowmen ☃️ and loving every minute of it.

We saw the little melting snowmen on Tiktok and we knew we had to give them a try. The original snowmen use classic reddi-whip, but we tried them with coconut whip and they turned out SO GOOD.

These little snowmen are very easy to make. All you need is a silicone muffin pan or silicon ice cube tray. It is very important to use a silicone tray, it makes removal of the snowmen so much easier.

  1. whipped cream/Reddi-Wip — we used the coconut version!
  2. Marshmallows — the big ones make the best snowmen!
  3. Decorations — think sprinkles, cinnamon imperials, etc.
  4. Hot chocolate: we highly recommend serving them with our maple sea salt hot chocolate.

You also need to think about decorations. We used mini chocolate chips, red hots, pretzels, and sprinkles to make little eyes, noses, and ears. There are so many different things you can use, so get creative. It is the perfect edible project to do with the kiddos.

We used coconut cream reddi-whip, but you can use regular reddi-whip or fresh whipped cream that you place in a pipping bag. Just be sure if you use fresh whipped cream to whip it until it forms stiff peaks and be sure to prep it right before making the snowmen.

Before pipping the whipped cream into the silicone molds, place the silicone molds in the freezer for 10-20 minutes. This will prevent the whipped cream from melting right away.

When you are decorating the marshmallows with faces, use marshmallow cream as the ‘glue’ to place each ingredient. We found that coconut oil melts too quickly.

Do not mix anything into the whipped cream, it may cause the snowmen to break apart when you try removing them from the mold.

  • First, make your snowmen faces. Use the marshmallow creme as glue to stick your sprinkles/mini chocolate chips, etc. onto the marshmallows. We used mini chocolate chips for eyes and smiles. We also used sprinkles for smiles and some noses. Pretzel sticks can be used for arms or antlers.

  • Fill each silicone well with Reddi-Wip, about half an inch above the tops. Then place a marshmallow head in each well. If you’re feeling fancy, you can add sprinkles halfway through to add a burst of color.

  • Place in the freezer for at least 4 hours — ideally overnight.

  • When the hot chocolate is ready to serve, place a melting snowmen into each cup and watch it melt!

  • Whipped cream: any kind of whipped cream will work for this recipe! We do recommend using whipped cream from the can because it’s fun 😀
